Mekeisha ‘Meisha’ McDonald
Mekeisha ‘Meisha’ McDonald is a self-taught illustrator who cites Chris Riddell, Vashti Harrison and Zetta Elliott as her biggest inspirations. Her style can be described as an eclectic mix of Japanese manga, street art and Saturday morning cartoons. Using markers, ink and water-soluble mediums she creates Afrocentric characters with traditional hairstyles, often placing them in fantasy settings. Originally trained in animation, Meisha found her true calling in the world of children’s books during her time at City Lit. She loves all things Wonderland.
