Sarah McConnell

About me:

Dr Sarah McConnell is a published author and illustrator of 18
years. She has illustrated more than 30 books, 6 of which she both
wrote and illustrated. These have been translated into ten different
languages with books featured on BBC’s Bedtime Stories and the
Governments ‘Boys into Books’ list. Her clients include Hodder
Children’s Books (Hachette), Harper Collins UK and US, Orchard
Books, Gullane, Oxford University Press and Scholastic.
Sarah has completed doctoral research in the area of book
illustration, specifically focusing on the children’s book as an art
form. She has delivered at conferences and written journal papers
on the subject. Most recently she has completed a chapter in the
internationally recognised series for Wiley Blackwell ‘A companion to
Illustration’ edited by Prof. Alan Male. The chapter is entitled
‘Illustration in Motion: Sequential Momentum in Children’s
Illustrated Books’.
