A prize for aspiring writers that will give you the guidance you need

The Bad Form Young Writers’ Prize has been launched to support unpublished BAME authors under 25 based in the UK.

Entry requirements:

  • Entrants must be based in the UK, and identify as Black, Asian, Arabic or otherwise not-white.
  • Entrants must be under 25 at the time of submission.
  • Entrants must not have published a book with a publisher at time of entry, or be under contract to do so.
  • Entrants must supply 100 words on why the opportunity would be useful to them, 1,000 words of their fiction manuscript (finished or unfinished), and a 300 word summary of their manuscript.

How to enter:

To participate, send:

  • Up to 1,000 words of your fiction manuscript (finished or unfinished)
  • a 300 word summary of the manuscript
  • 100 words on why you’d find the support helpful

Prize:

  • The winner will get a chance to meet Bad Form’s panel of mentors comprising literary agents, publishers and authors
  • A package of books by Black, Asian, Arabic and non-white authors
  • Tickets to Writing Our Legacy’s writing events
