Helen Mackenzie Smith

Editorial Director, Picture Books & Novelties

Helen has worked in picture book publishing for over twenty years, with experience both in-house at publishers such as Random House and HarperCollins Children's Books, and as a literary agent with the Bell Lomax Moreton Agency. She is now Editorial Director of the picture book list at Simon & Schuster Children's UK, where she is lucky enough to be working with beloved books and characters from some of the best picture book makers in the business, including the Supertato series by Sue Hendra & Paul Linnet, the world of The Storm Whale by Benji Davies and much-loved classics such as Dogs Don't Do Ballet by Anna Kemp & Sara Ogilvie, among many more.

Jane Buckley

Art Director, Picture Book & Novelties

With over twenty years’ experience in Children’s publishing, Jane has worked for a wealth of publishers including Penguin Random House, Little Tiger Press, Kingfisher and Dorling Kindersley. Throughout her career she’s worked with a variety of award-winning illustrators such as Benji Davies, Sara Ogilvie, Liz Pichon and Kate Hindley. Jane started her journey studying Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University, as a painter and film maker with a keen eye for a good story, the picture book world soon beckoned. Through her determination and hard work – she now finds herself as Art Director of Picture Books and Novelty at Simon & Schuster UK.
